Kontaktlinsen, Brillen, Laser und - bei Grauem Star oder der Gefahr der vermeidbaren Blindheit - Intraokularlinsen sind verfügbar, Augenoptiker oder -ärzte sichern die Versorgung der Patienten und professionelle Hilfe in jedem Alter.
Dies gilt nicht für 2.5 Milliarden Menschen, besonders in Asien, Afrika und Lateinamerika.
Was fehlt sind Optiker und Optometristen
In vielen Regionen fehlt es an Optometristen, Optikern und Medizinern, die eine augenoptische Grundversorgung anbieten können. Ohne sie gibt es niemand, der eine Brille anpassen kann.
Die WHO mit dem Vision2020 Programm bekämpft vermeidbare Blindheit weltweit, andere Initiativen haben sich dem Ziel verschrieben, Millionen Menschen Zugang zu Sehtest und erschwinglichen Brillen zu verschaffen.
Wir wollen als Förderverein dazu unseren Beitrag leisten. Jedes Jahr wächst die Zahl der Menschen ohne Zugang zu Augenoptik um 50 Millionen Menschen.

Miracle of Sight e.V. arbeitet mit Partnern vor Ort zusammen, die mit Spenden noch mehr Menschen erreichen und ihnen zu klarem Sehen verhelfen können.
For most people it is taken for granted to see the world in all its beauty and details. Contact lenses, spectacles, lasik or - in the case of cataract or avoidable blindness - a surgery and intraocular lenses are available, opticians, optometrists, eye doctors provide patients of all age with vision correction and medical treatments. But about 2.5 billion people, especially in Asia, Africa and Latin America have no access to vision and eye care at all.
Missing: Optometrists and opticians
The root cause is lack of infrastructure and availability of eye care professionals, and without them there is nobody who can dispense individually fitted eyeglass lenses.
The WHO is fighting avoidable blindness with their Vision2020 program, manifold initiatives and dedicated individuals aim to provide millions of people with access to vision test and affordable eyeglasses.
We as a friends' association want to contribute our share, as the number of affected people who need clear vision but can't get it grows by 50 million every year.

We support initiatives and individuals who fight the "global vision crisis" in the field in order to help to make the number of affected people smaller. Thanks to industrial progress individually fitted, good spectacles are manufacturable for 3 €. Miracle of Sight aims to collect donations to enable partner organizations to reach more people and provide them with needed vision correction.
